What To Expect

to make as perfect effective or functional as possible
My Body My Life Optimized
First, the question is, are you making an Acupuncture or a Functional Medicine appointment? If you’re coming in for less complex issues, such as stress and anxiety, sleep problems, insomnia, headaches, lower back or managing other chronic pain, Chemotherapy nausea or Cancer prevention, infertility, or even food and seasonal allergy concerns. In that case, you’ll want an Acupuncture appointment.
But if you’re having multiple complex issues like leaky gut problems, autoimmune disease, vaccine-related issues, Lyme, Fibromyalgia, Hormonal imbalance, Alzheimer’s / dementia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or weight and thyroid issues. Then you will want to make a Functional Medicine appointment.

Then We Give It To You Straight!

The fact is sometimes we can’t help you, and if we cant, we tell you. We won’t waste your money or your time unless we believe we can really help you with the therapies we offer. It is impossible to know for sure who will or will not be helped, but with more than 60 years of combined training and experience has allowed us to make some very educated assumptions. Based on all the information we gather, we will tell you whether we think you’re a good patient prospect.
If everything looks good, we will sit down and map out a treatment plan together that will work best for you, allowing you to achieve the desired results. This could include things like herbal medicine, dietary changes, various detox protocols, hormone therapy, immune system enhancements, and likely some shockwave, cupping, or gua-sha therapies, in addition to acupuncture, of course, and possibly some other lesser-known treatments we have access to.
Now It’s Time To Work
If all is agreeable, well, it’s time to get to work! You may be asked to sit in a recliner chair, or you most likely will be lying down on a massage table. Both Acupuncture and Functional Medicine visits will get an Acupuncture treatment on their first visit. Acupuncture is a very powerful treatment, and we incorporate it into all our treatment plans because it immediately stimulates the central nervous system. Which releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain, stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities promoting physical and emotional well-being.
When you receive an Acupuncture appointment, we will insert sterile, single-use needles. In many cases, the needles are placed in areas that are far from the problem area. I know, crazy, right? I thought the same thing when I was attending acupuncture school. However, many of the most important points for treating headaches are located in the feet and hands, and many of the most critical aspects of treating back pain are found in the hips, hands, feet, and even the ears.
Does Getting Acupuncture Hurt?
One misconception about acupuncture is that it hurts, and this is a reason that 90% of Americans don’t want to try acupuncture. “Most [people being treated] don’t feel the needles being inserted because they are so thin and gently inserted. Once a needle reaches its intended depth, you’re likely to feel a mild, dull ache or a slight tingling sensation. This only lasts for 2–3 seconds and is a sign that the treatment is working and the acupuncture point is being activated. You may also feel a quick electric sensation.
In a 2023 study, Trusted Source, participants who received acupuncture in a pediatric hospital rated the pain of acupuncture as 1.3 out of 10 on average. About 58% of participants reported no pain during their first session. The needle is actually the size of a human hair strand. 80% of our patients become deeply relaxed. And fall asleep on me, can you believe it!

How Does Your Body React To ACUPUNCTURE?

OK… Now Don’t Expect To Be Healed On The First Treatment
Yes… Most people notice a reduction in pain levels after their first treatment, but complete healing is unlikely. You didn’t get there in just one day, so don’t expect to be healed in one treatment. If that was the case, we would have a line around the building trying to get in! With chronic or severe issues, it typically takes 5–10 acupuncture sessions before noticeable results are seen.
Acupuncture is similar to eating right or going to the gym – you don’t do it just once and expect an amazing change. The good news about Acupuncture is that (unlike most other healthy habits) most people don’t have to continue with it forever, unlike most pharmaceutical drugs.
Our goal is to deliver results as quickly as possible and demonstrate the power and simplicity of our treatment programs. And yes, all without the side effects … that’s FREE by the way!
For The Best Results, We Need You To Hold Up Your End Of The Bargain
Those who achieve the best results from Acupuncture are the ones who are willing to participate in the process. We can tell you one thing without question: you will undoubtedly be disappointed if you come to us expecting to get well without any effort on your part. One of the most important things you can do to increase your odds of greater success is to commit to the treatments and the protocols we outline for you.
Acupuncture is just one of the many modalities we employ, and it can do a lot by itself, but it is similar to working out at the gym. If you don’t put adequate energy, commitment, and follow-through into the protocols, your long-term success will vanish or diminish. We will likely make strong recommendations for changes to your diet and lifestyle, but we promise to be as practical, realistic, and gentle as possible when it comes to the changes you will need to make.
