What To Expect

to make as perfect effective or functional as possible

My Body My Life Optimized

First, the question is, are you making an Acupuncture or a Functional Medicine appointment? If you’re coming in for less complex issues, such as stress and anxiety, sleep problems, insomnia, headaches, lower back or managing other chronic pain, Chemotherapy nausea or Cancer prevention, infertility, or even food and seasonal allergy concerns. In that case, you’ll want an Acupuncture appointment.

But if you’re having multiple complex issues like leaky gut problems, autoimmune disease, vaccine-related issues, Lyme, Fibromyalgia, Hormonal imbalance, Alzheimer’s / dementia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or weight and thyroid issues. Then you will want to make a Functional Medicine appointment.

First We Ask A Whole Bunch
of Questions . . .

We are not satisfied with Band-Aid solutions, our job is to find your root problem, so we need to know all about you. So it’s important that you are honest and thorough in filling out your new patient information form and answering our questions truthfully. If you have a sore back, we start asking you about your digestion, your sleep, and your mood, please don’t think we are crazy yet.

This is because these are all clues to help us pin-point what the real issue is. We are not going to just cover up and stop your headache with a few Tylenol; we need to find out why you’re getting the headaches. That is a warning light that your body is telling you something is wrong!

Second, We Poke & Prod
You…Just a Little Bit!

Yes we use some old Chinese examination methods and observations that have been used for thousands of years, long before the advent of modern medical technology. Like asking you to stick out your tongue so we can evaluate its size, color, and coating and carefully checking your pulse. We ask you to walk with us so we can see your kinesiology (physiological and psychological principles of your body’s movements), and we even evaluate the circulatory functions in various parts of your body. By the time we’ve finished examining you, we will have pretty good understanding of what and why you are sick in pain and coming to see us!

Then We Give It To You Straight!

The fact is sometimes we can’t help you, and if we cant, we tell you. We won’t waste your money or your time unless we believe we can really help you with the therapies we offer. It is impossible to know for sure who will or will not be helped, but with more than 60 years of combined training and experience has allowed us to make some very educated assumptions. Based on all the information we gather, we will tell you whether we think you’re a good patient prospect.

If everything looks good, we will sit down and map out a treatment plan together that will work best for you, allowing you to achieve the desired results. This could include things like herbal medicine, dietary changes, various detox protocols, hormone therapy, immune system enhancements, and likely some shockwave, cupping, or gua-sha therapies, in addition to acupuncture, of course, and possibly some other lesser-known treatments we have access to.

Now It’s Time To Work

If all is agreeable, well, it’s time to get to work! You may be asked to sit in a recliner chair, or you most likely will be lying down on a massage table. Both Acupuncture and Functional Medicine visits will get an Acupuncture treatment on their first visit. Acupuncture is a very powerful treatment, and we incorporate it into all our treatment plans because it immediately stimulates the central nervous system. Which releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain, stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities promoting physical and emotional well-being.

When you receive an Acupuncture appointment, we will insert sterile, single-use needles. In many cases, the needles are placed in areas that are far from the problem area. I know, crazy, right? I thought the same thing when I was attending acupuncture school. However, many of the most important points for treating headaches are located in the feet and hands, and many of the most critical aspects of treating back pain are found in the hips, hands, feet, and even the ears.

Does Getting Acupuncture Hurt?

One misconception about acupuncture is that it hurts, and this is a reason that 90% of Americans don’t want to try acupuncture. “Most [people being treated] don’t feel the needles being inserted because they are so thin and gently inserted. Once a needle reaches its intended depth, you’re likely to feel a mild, dull ache or a slight tingling sensation. This only lasts for 2–3 seconds and is a sign that the treatment is working and the acupuncture point is being activated. You may also feel a quick electric sensation.

In a 2023 study, Trusted Source, participants who received acupuncture in a pediatric hospital rated the pain of acupuncture as 1.3 out of 10 on average. About 58% of participants reported no pain during their first session. The needle is actually the size of a human hair strand. 80% of our patients become deeply relaxed. And fall asleep on me, can you believe it!

How Does Your Body React To ACUPUNCTURE?

Head

While many rely on prescription medications for migraines, Acupuncture addresses the underlying cause, offering relief that goes beyond simply masking the pain.

Nose

Instead of antihistamines, Acupuncture can alleviate and even eliminate seasonal allergies, providing lasting relief without the need for expensive allergy shots.

Back

Clinical studies show Acupuncture can reduce and even eliminate back pain, with up to 80% of patients reporting significant pain reduction and improved mobility.

Immune system

Acupuncture enhances the efficiency of immune cells, enabling your body to more effectively identify and destroy infections, leading to improved overall immune function.

Weight

Acupuncture supports weight management best when combined with GLP-1 peptides and hormone therapy, creating a comprehensive and effective approach to healthy weight loss.

Heart

Acupuncture can do amazing things to help alleviate symptoms of heart murmurs by enhancing blood circulation and supporting the heart’s overall function.

Sleep

Acupuncture treatments for insomnia can significantly enhance sleep quality, boost energy levels, and foster a more balanced mood and overall sense of well-being.

Stomach

Acupuncture accelerates digestion and regulates acid secretion by modulating the nervous system, reducing inflammation, and increasing blood flow to digestive organs.

Menopause

Regular acupuncture sessions can reduce hot flashes, pain, and other menopause-related symptoms, with benefits lasting three to six months after treatment.

Mood

Weekly acupuncture sessions can help treat depression, stress, and anxiety, with even faster results when combined with Acoustic Vibration or Body-Talk therapy.

OK… Now Don’t Expect To Be Healed On The First Treatment

Yes… Most people notice a reduction in pain levels after their first treatment, but complete healing is unlikely. You didn’t get there in just one day, so don’t expect to be healed in one treatment. If that was the case, we would have a line around the building trying to get in! With chronic or severe issues, it typically takes 5–10 acupuncture sessions before noticeable results are seen.

Acupuncture is similar to eating right or going to the gym – you don’t do it just once and expect an amazing change. The good news about Acupuncture is that (unlike most other healthy habits) most people don’t have to continue with it forever, unlike most pharmaceutical drugs.

Our goal is to deliver results as quickly as possible and demonstrate the power and simplicity of our treatment programs. And yes, all without the side effects … that’s FREE by the way!

For The Best Results, We Need You To Hold Up Your End Of The Bargain

Those who achieve the best results from Acupuncture are the ones who are willing to participate in the process. We can tell you one thing without question: you will undoubtedly be disappointed if you come to us expecting to get well without any effort on your part. One of the most important things you can do to increase your odds of greater success is to commit to the treatments and the protocols we outline for you.

Acupuncture is just one of the many modalities we employ, and it can do a lot by itself, but it is similar to working out at the gym. If you don’t put adequate energy, commitment, and follow-through into the protocols, your long-term success will vanish or diminish. We will likely make strong recommendations for changes to your diet and lifestyle, but we promise to be as practical, realistic, and gentle as possible when it comes to the changes you will need to make.
